Gore Coalition Uses AI to Track Pollution Sources
Think of it as a warning of sorts. A coalition led by former Vice President Al Gore is employing artificial intelligence and satellite technology to monitor pollution in various locales globally, pinpointing the homes and backyards responsible for it.
Building on his climate initiative, Gore is now using this technology to map the exact locations of methane emissions. Recently, he broadened the system’s capabilities to track pollution from small particles, often referred to as soot, in 2,500 cities worldwide.
This announcement came soon after President Donald Trump dismissed climate change as “the largest fraudulent job” in his address to the UN General Assembly, further expressing skepticism about environmental regulations and the role of international institutions funded by public resources.
According to reports, Gore’s coalition is utilizing 300 satellites, alongside 30,000 ground sensors and advanced AI, to identify over 137,000 sources of particle contamination.
While users can currently view long-term trends, Gore anticipates that in about a year, real-time data will be accessible. This data could potentially be integrated into weather applications, similar to allergy forecasts.
The initiative aims not only to highlight the contaminants but also to identify the sources of emissions. Gore expressed enthusiasm over being able to monitor pollution without the emitters’ awareness. He remarked, “Before AI, it was quite difficult for people to trace the origins of traditional air pollution.”
He believes that when individuals understand how pollution affects their homes and neighborhoods, it empowers them with the reality of their circumstances. He alluded to a principle from his faith: knowing the truth will ultimately lead to liberation.
In previous discussions, Gore has indicated that those who deny the realities of climate change should face repercussions, particularly public figures who reject established science. While he hasn’t specified what these consequences might entail, he has emphasized the urgency of addressing global warming as a divine obligation, asserting that correcting this issue is essential.
