Vigilante Attack on Convicted Sex Offender
Authorities in California have detained a man following a violent incident involving a registered sex offender. Varun Suresh, 29, from Fremont, allegedly targeted 71-year-old David Brimmer, who has a history of sexual offenses.
According to reports, Suresh showed up at Brimmer’s home, where Brimmer was, perhaps, trying to escape the confrontation. Witnesses claim that Suresh followed Brimmer as he rushed down the street, seeking help from neighbors.
Before the attack occurred, Suresh is said to have revealed his intentions to police. He allegedly located Brimmer’s address through the California Megan’s Law database, expressing a desire to confront a “pedophile.” This comes after police found several screenshots of registered sex offenders on Suresh’s phone shortly before the stabbing incident, which was reported at approximately 11:57 AM.
Brimmer had previously served time in prison for roughly nine years starting in 1995 after being convicted of lewd acts with a minor. Suresh reportedly posed as a door-to-door accountant when he approached Brimmer’s home. He indicated, somewhat dramatically, that once they met, “it was on.”
During the confrontation, when Brimmer attempted to flee, he stumbled into nearby homes seeking assistance. Sadly, Suresh caught up with him and engaged him violently, ending in a fatal stabbing. After seeing the blood, he reportedly told Brimmer, “It’s over. You must repent.”
Suresh did not seem to regret his actions, claiming that targeting such offenders is “cool,” and the act itself was “honestly, really enjoyable.” Previous to this incident, he had faced allegations in 2021 for a bomb threat, stating that he was hunting down a CEO.
Police have recovered the weapon from the scene, and Suresh is facing murder charges.
