Support for Wage Growth
President Donald Trump is backing Joe Lavorgna, a counselor for U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent.
During a segment, host Matthew Boyle raised questions about who is benefiting from wage increases, specifically in the context of blue-collar workers. “Who exactly is getting more money, and why?” he asked.
Laborgna explained, “When we refer to the blue-collar wage boom, the Bureau of Labor Statistics identifies these as non-supervisory production workers—essentially, those like carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and nursing assistants. These individuals are vital; they are the ones who produce the goods and services that people need.”
He emphasized that these workers aren’t typically seen as experts or managers, yet they are experiencing significant wage growth, particularly noted during President Trump’s first term. “If we look at the first eight months of this year, real wages for these blue-collar workers have increased by about 1.2%,” he mentioned.
Lavorgna highlighted that this increase reflects “the fastest growth in eight months we’ve seen over the last 60 years.”
He added, “In the early months of Trump’s administration, we witnessed rapid growth, which is quite historic and significant.”
Laborgna also noted how President Trump aims to communicate effectively to assist everyday Americans, who often do not benefit from flashy bonuses. “They need a better standard of living and have been disproportionately affected,” he said.
He quoted Secretary Bescent, stating, “It’s Main Street’s turn now. Wall Street has done well, but it’s time for the focus to shift to Main Street.”
