Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) has released a list identifying 30 officials as key figures in what they describe as “indifferent crusades” supporting illegal immigration. This list notably includes Democratic governors Tim Waltz of Minnesota, Illinois’ J.B. Pritzker, and California’s Gavin Newsom.
This announcement follows an incident in Dallas, Texas, involving a shooting connected to anti-ICE sentiment, noted in a recent press release.
“For years, Democrats have disparaged ICE with terms like ‘fascists,’ ‘Gestapo,’ and ‘slave patrols,’ which has led to a 1,000% increase in attacks on agents and a wave of radical left violence. Their rhetoric isn’t just reckless; it’s essentially a war cry for violence,” the statement reads.
Leading the list are three governors accused of promoting violent anti-ICE rhetoric. For instance, Governor Tim Waltz has characterized ICE as the “modern Gestapo,” referencing a speech he delivered at the University of Minnesota.
The release also mentions California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, suggesting he is pursuing his 2028 presidential aspirations by engaging in extreme anti-ICE framing—terms like “Secret Police” and “Authoritarianism” have been used in his statements. He has encouraged his constituents to “push back” against federal authorities.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is reminded by the White House of his previous comparisons of ICE to “Nazi Germany,” claiming they operate like a Gestapo that “grabs people off the street and makes them disappear.”
All these governors seem to be positioning themselves as potential Democratic presidential candidates for 2028, elevating anti-Trump and anti-ICE rhetoric to boost their national profiles for higher office.
The press release also called out a lengthy list of Democrats, indicating that the anti-ICE sentiment is influencing public opinion. The list includes representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, Sylvia Garcia, Pramila Jayapal, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Eric Swalwell, Hakeem Jeffries, and more. Notably, even figures like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are mentioned for their strong criticism against ICE.
