FBI Director Ends Ties with Anti-Prevention League
FBI Director Kash Patel has announced a break from the anti-prevention league that the bureau had been involved with under the leadership of former Director James Comey.
“James Comey penned what can only be described as a ‘love letter’ to the ADL to pressure the FBI, which involved agents collaborating with extreme groups that behave like terrorist organizations. This wasn’t proper law enforcement,” he stated.
“That period is over. The FBI officially rejects Comey’s policies and its association with the ADL,” he continued.
On May 8, 2017, Comey expressed his “love” for the FBI and the National Leadership Summit of the Prevention League in Washington, D.C. He referenced a 2014 speech dubbed the “Love Letter to ADL,” and noted, “From the FBI’s perspective, we are still in love with you three years later.”
“We are not only educating ourselves, but we also aim to build bridges with the communities we serve, working alongside the ADL,” Comey mentioned in that same address.
He acknowledged their advocacy for equity and equality over the past century, for which he expressed gratitude on behalf of law enforcement and the National Security Agency.
Recently, the ADL has been under fire from Elon Musk and some Republican lawmakers for classifying Charlie Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA (TPUSA), as an extremist group. Consequently, the group removed its entire “extremism and hatred glossary” on Tuesday.
“The glossary, which contained over 1,000 entries developed over many years, had served as a vital resource but has now become outdated due to the rising number of entries that have been misrepresented and misused,” an announcement stated. The ADL indicated plans to explore new strategies for presenting data and research more effectively moving forward.
Meanwhile, the controversy has been amplified following the assassination of Kirk at an event in Utah Valley University nearly three weeks ago.
Musk claimed that the FBI’s definition of “hate groups” came from the ADL, which is why there was an investigation concerning Kirk and TPUSA in connection to his murder. In a separate post, he labeled the ADL a “hate group.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) called for clarification on why TPUSA was classified in this manner. “It seems like if they disagree with you, you’ll just get labeled a ‘hate group’,” she commented.
The ADL categorizes the TPUSA background page under a “center of extremism” label, suggesting ties to broader right-wing extremism.
Fox News Digital reached out to the ADL for a comment but did not receive an immediate reply.
