In the weeks before their split, Keith Urban found himself facing tough questions regarding his estranged wife, Nicole Kidman.
During an interview on Australia’s Gold 101.7 “Jonesy & Amanda” radio show on September 2—just before Kidman filed for divorce—Urban appeared noticeably uncomfortable when discussing their relationship and what he termed their “beautiful love story.”
When asked whether their paths would have crossed without certain key moments, Urban referenced their first encounter at a Los Angeles radio show.
“No, I think so,” he answered, visibly distracted as he opened a bottle of water. When probed about the idea of “destiny,” he simply said, “I won’t think about it.”
As the questions persisted, Urban replied, “You never know. Anyway, let’s move on.”
The radio show’s Instagram later shared the clip, capturing Urban’s discomfort with the repeated inquiries about Kidman.
This wasn’t an isolated incident. In July, during an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Urban laughed awkwardly when Seacrest mentioned Kidman’s heavy workload.
“Do people say your wife is in everything? Like, really, everything?” Seacrest joked, prompting an uneasy response from Urban.
As Seacrest continued, noting Kidman’s various recent roles, Urban quietly acknowledged, “That’s work. Yes,” while reflecting on their nearly two years of marriage and how they managed to make time for each other.
On Monday, it was confirmed that Urban and Kidman, married since 2006, had decided to separate after 19 years and two children together.
Sources revealed that Urban might have already moved on, noting that there are indications he’s been seeing someone new. Kidman, while surprised, reportedly has no objections to this development.
Meanwhile, Kidman was spotted in Nashville enjoying time outdoors with her sister Antonia.
