Pritzker: 400 Texas National Guard troops are being deployed to Illinois and Oregon

Illinois Governor Criticizes Troop Deployment as “Trump Invasion”

On Sunday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker referred to the deployment of hundreds of Texas State Guard members to his state and Oregon as a “Trump invasion.”

Governor Pritzker stated, “Tonight, President Trump has ordered 400 members of the Texas State Guard to go to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations across the country. Federal officials didn’t reach out to discuss this with me directly,” in a post on a social platform.

“We need to call this what it is: Trump’s invasion. It involves federal agents being deployed against our wishes and now troops from another state,” he added.

In response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s announcement that the deployment was approved, Pritzker noted, “We could either provide full protections for federal employees or have the Texas Guard take on that role. There’s no comparison to the training and expertise of the Texas National Guard.”

Recently, Trump’s administration has sent national security personnel to various cities, including Washington, D.C., and Memphis, Tennessee, sparking frustration among local communities and Democrats.

Oregon Attorney General Dan Layfield mentioned he was “preparing for legal action” against the deployment of California State Guard troops to Beaver after a federal judge halted troop mobilization in Portland.

Layfield stated, “We are ready to assess our options and take legal action. We will keep sharing updates as they come,” in a post on a social platform.

Additionally, California Governor Gavin Newsom reported that 300 California National Guard personnel were deployed in Oregon, emphasizing that they are currently on the ground.

Newsom remarked, “We are taking this fight back to court. The public cannot remain silent against such reckless and authoritarian actions by the president,” he added in his social media update.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for a response.
