Hamas Reportedly Agrees to Ceasefire and Peace Plan

There are reports that Hamas has accepted a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, along with a peace initiative proposed by the Trump administration.

As mentioned by a source, a peace agreement could be finalized as soon as Thursday in Egypt.

“Palestinian resistance sources informed the Hezbollah-linked news agency Al-Mayadeen that Hamas has agreed to the ceasefire terms,” the report stated on Wednesday.

During a press conference on Wednesday, President Trump noted the possibility of visiting Egypt later this week to further the peace discussions.

“We might be there by the end of this week. It could even be Sunday. There’s a good chance that negotiations will go positively,” he stated. “We’re engaging with Hamas and several countries. All Islamic nations and Arab states are part of this, ranging from very wealthy to less so… Our recent talks with Hamas seem to be progressing well.”

Images from negotiations in Egypt show “delegates appearing to hug or shake hands,” according to reports. U.S. correspondent Mark Stone described the atmosphere as “like a festival.”

Stone also commented that the negotiators agreed that any public announcements would come from Donald Trump, referencing an earlier report on the matter. “This seems like a historic moment. We don’t know all the details or how many complex issues have been resolved, but it’s evident that an announcement of some kind is likely,” he said.

Additionally, sources indicated that Hamas could potentially release Israeli hostages taken on October 7, 2023, as soon as this weekend.

Trump confirmed that both Israel and Hamas have signed off on a peace plan. In his announcement on social media, he expressed pride in this agreement.

“I’m pleased to report that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the initial phase of a peace plan. This means all hostages will soon be released, and Israel will pull back its forces to an agreed-upon line, marking a first step towards enduring peace,” he said.

“Everyone involved will be treated fairly! Today is a pivotal day for the Arab and Islamic world, for Israel, its neighboring countries, and the United States. We’re grateful to the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their contributions to this unprecedented event,” he added.
