New Jersey Sisters Arrested After Airport Incident
Two sisters from New Jersey, reportedly intoxicated, were arrested at Orlando International Airport after allegedly assaulting a Frontier Airlines gate agent. This incident unfolded on May 15, as detailed in body camera footage that was made public recently.
Keira Lyons, 22, and Maura Flores, 31, were removed from a flight bound for New Jersey due to disturbances attributed to their inebriation.
In the footage, an Orlando police officer approaches an airline employee who is sitting on the floor, discussing the incident. The gate agent noted that the altercation began with the smaller sister pushing her, followed by the larger sister.
The airline staff had requested police intervention after the sisters became unruly, reportedly “screaming” and resisting leaving the plane. Eventually, they complied and were escorted to the jet bridge.
As they were leaving, Lyons allegedly hurled insults at a flight attendant, specifically calling her a “fat woman.” The employee recalled feeling pushed and later tripping as the sisters continued to confront her.
A nearby flight attendant corroborated the incident, asserting that both sisters had physically assaulted the gate agent.
Outside the jet bridge, chaotic moments were captured on video, showing the sisters recounting their side to other officers in the terminal. Lyons claimed she was struggling with anxiety and hyperventilation during the encounter, stating that she felt unwell in the bathroom when asked to exit the aircraft.
Flores confirmed that when questioned about her sobriety, Lyons admitted to having “a few drinks.” The situation escalated further when Lyons accused a male staff member of inappropriate touching, which seemed to intensify the tension between the parties involved.
Following the incident, Lyons reiterated her athletic status, indicating she was walking toward graduation and expressing frustration over the situation. Both sisters were charged with first-degree assault and second-degree disorderly conduct stemming from their interaction with the gate staff, resulting in minor injuries to the employee.
Subsequently, their legal proceedings were redirected to a Pretrial Intervention program, aimed at diverting non-violent offenders from the court system. Successful completion of this program may lead to dismissal of the charges.
