Barron Trump Considered for TikTok Leadership Role

Barron Trump is being mentioned as a potential leader for TikTok.

Jake Advent, who was the former social media manager for President Trump, stated that Barron, at 19, played a significant role in connecting his father with younger voters. Advent believes he would be an ideal candidate to head the social media platform should it be sold to American investors.

“I hope President Trump thinks about appointing Barron and perhaps a few other young Americans to TikTok’s board to ensure it stays relevant for young users,” Advent remarked in a comment.

Barron, who is presently attending classes at New York University’s D.C. campus, hasn’t publicly responded to this suggestion. His father has praised him for his ability to engage a younger audience during the election.

Additionally, First Lady Melania Trump has noted that their son is supportive because he is in touch with his peers.

Recently, President Trump signed an executive order permitting the transition of TikTok’s U.S. operations to a group of U.S.-based investors. This move follows his discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping last month. TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance.

In a noteworthy appearance, President Trump returned to TikTok after nearly a year, stating in a video, “To the young people of TikTok, I saved TikTok and I owe you a huge debt.” He added, “Right now you’re looking at me in the Oval Office, and someday one of you will sit at this desk and you’ll do a great job, too.”

Former President Joe Biden had signed a bipartisan measure in April 2024, giving ByteDance the choice to lessen its stake in TikTok to 20% or face a complete ban in the U.S.

While both Biden and Trump have postponed the ban’s implementation, Trump argued that it would empower U.S. social media companies to censor political content more effectively.

Vice President J.D. Vance mentioned that under the new agreement, TikTok’s algorithm will be managed by American investors.
