Republican Jack Ciattarelli and Democrat Mikie Sherrill are competing in the New Jersey gubernatorial race, set for November 4, 2025.
Interestingly, Ciattarelli seems to be narrowing the gap.
According to reports,
Ciattarelli is gaining traction in the New Jersey race as polls indicate a very tight contest.
In a state where Democrats still hold an edge in registrations, despite a rise in Republican numbers recently, two polls released this week show Ciattarelli making significant progress against Democratic candidate Rep. Mikie Sherrill, aiming to succeed term-limited Governor Murphy.
The latest Fox News poll, taken between October 10-14, found Sherrill with a 50% approval rating among voters, while Ciattarelli is at 45%. This marks a reduction in Sherrill’s lead, down from 8 points in a previous Fox News survey in September.
New Jersey and Virginia are the only states holding gubernatorial elections the year after a presidential election, making these races crucial indicators for the upcoming midterms.
Another survey suggested the race is even closer, within a 3-point margin.

A poll from a Republican super PAC backing Ciattarelli hints at a competitive face-off, though Sherrill still holds a slight advantage. Conducted by the polling firm of Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, it indicates a lead for Sherrill at 47% compared to 44% for Ciattarelli, a drop from a prior poll that showed her leading 47% to 42%.
President Donald Trump voiced his support for Ciattarelli, labeling him as “a New Jersey winner.”

Jack Ciattarelli stands out in New Jersey, while Sherrill represents everything negative. The high energy costs under her hypothetical leadership would only increase.
