Members of Chicago Education System Urge Violence Against ICE Agents, Make Jokes About Kirk's Assassination

Controversial Behavior during Chicago Protests

A recent video on social media has drawn attention to some unsettling actions by members of Chicago’s school system amid the NoKing protests. The footage features an elementary school teacher seemingly mocking the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk. Additionally, a university official in Chicago is facing criminal charges for allegedly inciting violence by calling for the shooting of immigration enforcement personnel.

Officials from Homeland Security shared a video of an individual they referred to as part of a “violent mob.” This person urged others to arm themselves and eliminate ICE agents, leading to a referral to the Justice Department for potential federal charges.

Legal analyst Jonathan Turley identified this individual as Moises Bernal, an adult education manager at Wilbur Wright University. In his commentary, Turley quoted Bernal as saying, “ICE agents must be shot and wiped out,” and noted the man’s calls for violence against the government.

Tensions surrounding Bernal are heightened given his criminal past, having received a suspended sentence for disruptive conduct related to a trial of a Chicago police officer facing murder charges.

Mr. Bernal may face further repercussions, including termination from his position at the university, although the institution has yet to issue a formal statement.

In a separate incident, a teacher from an elementary school in Chicago faced backlash after a video emerged of her mocking Kirk’s murder. Reports indicate she held a finger gun to her neck and mimicked being shot, repeatedly saying “bang” as a truck displaying a Charlie Kirk memorial flag drove by.

This teacher has been identified as Lucy Martinez, and her actions were captured in a video allegedly posted by her husband before he shut down his account. Following the release of the footage, school officials took action to remove her online presence.

The principal of Nathan Hale Elementary School, Dawn Isles Gomez, offered a defense of Martinez’s behavior, suggesting that it was a response to provocations from those in the passing truck rather than an appropriate expression of professionalism. Despite this explanation, the principal did not clarify whether any disciplinary measures were enacted.

Amidst these controversies, ICE and Border Patrol agents continued their operations in the Chicago vicinity, resulting in about 12 arrests of undocumented immigrants, despite threats directed at them.
