Texas Voter Rolls Reveal Possible Illegal Registrations
Texas officials have uncovered a significant number of individuals thought to be undocumented immigrants who are allegedly registered to vote illegally. A recent review of the voter rolls indicated that about 2,724 noncitizens are on the list.
In a statement released on Monday, Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. She mentioned that, through a comparison with a federal citizenship database, this issue was brought to light.
“Uncitizens must not be allowed to influence American elections,” Nelson asserted. “I will do everything in my power to investigate all voter fraud.” This comment underscores her commitment to ensuring that only eligible U.S. citizens participate in elections.
Nelson also praised the Trump Administration’s decision to provide states with direct access to this crucial data. This access is considered a significant development in efforts to verify the citizenship status of registered voters and keep accurate lists.
In total, a comparison was made involving approximately 18 million voter profiles against the SAVE database, managed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The findings, specifically the 2,724 cases identified, will now be handed over to county officials to assess whether these individuals should be removed from the voter rolls.
This group of noncitizens may include both undocumented individuals and resident aliens who cannot legally vote in the United States. Nelson mentioned that any noncitizens found to have participated in elections would be referred for potential prosecution.
A breakdown of the findings revealed that there were 48 potential noncitizen registrations in Brazoria County, 68 in Cameron County, 277 in Dallas County, and 165 in El Paso County.
Earlier this year, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton indicated that Nelson had already referred 33 possible illegal voting cases related to the 2024 election to his office.
At that time, Paxton reiterated, “Uncitizens should not be allowed to influence American elections. I will use the full force of my office to investigate all forms of voter fraud.”
Nelson noted that the administration’s actions reflect a commitment to eradicating any potential voter fraud.
