The FBI is looking into an incident in Arizona where a vehicle driven by a suspect reportedly collided with a vehicle occupied by two ICE agents during a traffic stop on Thursday morning.
Reports indicate that the events unfolded around 8 a.m. local time when ICE agents tried to pull over a car in Avondale. The driver did not stop and instead fled the scene.
Subsequently, the suspect returned to a residence and crashed into the ICE vehicle that had the officers inside. FBI officials have stated they are leading the investigation and will hand over the findings to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona for potential charges.
As of now, the identity of the involved driver, any arrests, or injuries sustained have not been disclosed. The Avondale Police Department has confirmed that the case has been passed on to the FBI.
In a related incident earlier that day in San Diego, three federal agents were reportedly injured when an ICE vehicle rear-ended another car during an operation involving someone who was illegally in the country.
One witness, Michael Barrick, expressed his concerns about the situation, highlighting the risk to public safety and the law enforcement challenges faced by ICE in their ongoing efforts to apprehend illegal immigrants.
