Migrant Charged with Stabbing Man Over Video After Being Arrested 8 Times

Incident Involving Venezuelan Immigrant in Chicago

A Venezuelan immigrant is facing charges for allegedly stabbing a man in Chicago, Illinois, on September 20th. The man, named Anthony Vasquez Guedes, is 26 years old and has already been in trouble with the law multiple times, as reported by local news sources.

The confrontation took place in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on South Ashland Avenue. According to reports, Guedes approached a man who was filming a video for his family and demanded that he delete it. When the man refused, Vasquez Guedes reportedly attacked him with a knife, resulting in several stab wounds, after which the victim surrendered his phone.

Law enforcement later caught up with Guedes, who is also accused of threatening others with a knife during this encounter. He allegedly resisted arrest by kicking one of the officers trying to detain him.

Court documents indicate that Guedes has been arrested eight times since the beginning of 2024, including charges for shoplifting, domestic assault, and driving without a license. He had just served a brief jail term for felony shoplifting earlier this month and did not show up for a subsequent court date. Interestingly, prosecutors have dropped many of the other charges against him.

A judge has ruled to hold Guedes on charges related to robbery and multiple counts of aggravated assault stemming from the recent incident. He remains in custody while awaiting trial.

In related news, authorities are currently searching for another individual, Leiter Jefferson Arauz-Medina, who is accused of assaulting a 54-year-old woman in Chicago. He was initially released into the U.S. in September 2024, during the previous administration.

Reports indicate that after arriving in Chicago, Arauz-Medina violently attacked the woman, subjecting her to severe physical abuse. These allegations underscore ongoing concerns about public safety in the city.

Amid these events, many Chicago residents have expressed support for the presence of federal law enforcement in the area, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Border Patrol agents. Reports suggest that these enforcement actions have led to the arrest of numerous individuals with criminal backgrounds.

Additionally, ICE recently released information regarding illegal alien gang members and others in hiding in Illinois, emphasizing their commitment to addressing the rise in local crime.
