NFL community pays tribute to Nick Mangold following his unexpected passing at 41.

The football community is mourning the unexpected passing of former Jets center Nick Mangold. His family and friends have seen an outpouring of condolences from teammates and colleagues on social media.

Mangold passed away on Saturday night due to complications related to kidney disease, just two weeks after he announced he needed a transplant.

He was 41 years old.

Former Jets and NFL Hall of Famer Darrelle Revis expressed his sorrow, saying, “I was fortunate to lace up my shoes every Sunday. I will miss you and forever cherish our time in the locker room. I love you, buddy. Rest in paradise, Nick.”

Former teammate Leger Douzable, who played alongside Mangold from 2013 to 2015, shared his disbelief: “I can’t believe it. Life is too short… Tell your loved ones how you feel, while they’re still here.”

Mangold had an impressive 11-year career with the Jets, earning seven Pro Bowl selections between 2006 and 2016.

Described as both a great teammate and a strong competitor, he garnered admiration throughout the league. Willie Colon, who was with the Jets during 2013-2015, mentioned on the team’s pregame show, “When Rex Ryan allowed me the chance to play in New York, I wanted to play with Nick Mangold.”

Braylon Edwards, a former Cleveland Brown who played for the Jets at two different points, recalled, “The rivalry brought us together, and the way you prepared and played the game made you my brother on the gridiron. Praying for your family and loved ones… we will commemorate our last time playing together.” Edwards expressed his intention to honor Mangold over a drink.

Mark Sanchez, a former Jets quarterback, also paid his respects, noting, “Today we lost a good man. Nick was a Hall of Famer, yes, but he was also my older brother who introduced me to the NFL. He taught me the ropes. Our hearts are heavy. We will miss you, Amigo.”

Julian Edelman, long-time receiver for the Patriots, remarked, “Nick was a force on the field but a genuinely nice guy off it. He will be missed.”

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, shared a touching post, reflecting on how shocking and quick the news was, reminding everyone to cherish each day. JJ Watt also expressed his condolences simply by stating, “This is really terrible. Rest in peace, Nick.”

Bobby Carpenter, a college teammate of Mangold’s at Ohio State, shared a thoughtful memory, saying, “I thought we’d have more time… but I’m thankful for our 23 years together.”

Mangold is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and their four children. His former coach Rex Ryan became emotional on ESPN after learning of Mangold’s death, underscoring the impact he had on those who knew him.
