Jean-Pierre expresses no regrets about her time as Biden's press secretary

Karine Jean-Pierre Reflects on Her Time as Press Secretary

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated during a recent appearance on MSNBC that she has no regrets about her time in the Biden administration. Her comments came while she was promoting her new book titled “Independent.” When co-host Ayman Mohieldin asked her if she regretted speaking on behalf of former President Joe Biden, she paused before responding.

Mohieldin pressed her for a straightforward answer, but Jean-Pierre insisted that she needed to provide some context. “I woke up every day and was proud to be the White House Press Secretary,” she explained, emphasizing her identity as a queer Black woman. “It was an honor to take that job, and I did it to the best of my ability, representing a president I believe is a decent man.”

She acknowledged that not everything the administration did was perfect, but she stressed that she and her team worked hard to fulfill their responsibilities. “We didn’t do everything right. No one is saying that,” she noted. “But I don’t take anything back. I was really proud of everything that I did.” This sentiment seemed to resonate with her, as she repeated that she was proud of her work.

At one point, Mohieldin pointed out that she should be speaking for herself now that she’s not behind the podium. Still, Jean-Pierre maintained that her role was always to communicate the president’s message, not her own opinions. “I’m not speaking for Karine Jean-Pierre, I’m speaking for Joe Biden,” she clarified.

Throughout the interview, Jean-Pierre responded to questions about her comments on administration policies, even when they were controversial. She reflected on her perception of Biden, stating that in her experience, he was insightful and had a clear understanding of the challenges facing the country.

As she shares her reflections in her book, Jean-Pierre continues to navigate discussions about her support for Biden amidst criticisms of his performance, particularly concerning his position in the upcoming election.
