Strike on military sites in Venezuela could start at any time: Report

Military Strikes Against Venezuela Considered

The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to initiate military strikes targeting specific locations in Venezuela, as noted in a report from the Miami Herald.

The reported goal of these strikes is to capture the drug lord associated with Venezuela’s dictator, Nicolás Maduro.

One source mentioned, “To make matters worse for him, multiple generals are now trying to catch him and arrange for his extradition.”

However, it remains unclear if Maduro himself will be among the targets.

According to another source, “President Maduro is on the brink of being imprisoned. He may soon realize that even if he tries to escape, the options are limited.” The source further added, “What’s worse is the knowledge that several generals are actively seeking him, aware that death could be imminent.”

The White House’s deputy press secretary, Anna Kelly, responded by seemingly dismissing these claims. She stated, “Anonymous sources don’t know what they’re talking about. Any announcements regarding our policy toward Venezuela will come directly from the president.”

Previously, in August, the Trump administration had announced a $50 million reward for the capture of Maduro, along with the destruction of several boats believed to have been used for drug trafficking into the United States.

Trump reportedly cautioned potential traffickers, saying, “Let this serve as a notice to anyone thinking of bringing drugs into the United States: Be careful!”

California Congressman Ro Khanna expressed strong opposition to this potential military action, stating on social media, “President Trump is preparing for an attack inside Venezuela. This is blatantly unconstitutional, and Congress must act now to prevent yet another endless war of regime change.”

Furthermore, a report from the Wall Street Journal echoed these claims, asserting that the strike could send a clear message to Maduro about the necessity of his resignation.

Military analyst Mark Cancian commented that while the U.S. may have adequate military strength in the Caribbean to conduct airstrikes, it lacks the necessary forces for a full-scale invasion.

He explained, “We are positioned to launch airstrikes and missile attacks against both the drug cartels and the Maduro regime, but an invasion isn’t feasible.”
