Harrison Ford rips Trump: 'I don’t know of a greater criminal in history'

Harrison Ford Critiques Trump on Climate Change

Actor Harrison Ford criticized President Trump on Friday, claiming the president doesn’t have a solid approach to climate change and implying that his actions are more spontaneous than thoughtful.

“That scares me,” Ford remarked in an interview with the Guardian. He described Trump’s actions as “ignorance, arrogance, lies, and betrayal,” suggesting that Trump benefits from the current system while the planet faces significant challenges. “He knows better, yet he continues to be a tool of the status quo, just cashing in while the world deteriorates,” he added.

Ford expressed disbelief at Trump’s impact, stating, “It’s unbelievable. I can’t think of a more significant criminal in history.” He voiced concern regarding Trump’s “drill, baby, drill” mentality and accused him of stalling progress because of dishonesty.

“We believe we can reduce the damage caused by climate change,” Ford continued. He emphasized the importance of changing behaviors, innovating new technologies, and actively pursuing effective policies. “Humans are incredibly adaptable and inventive,” he said. “If you focus on the problem, you can usually find a solution.”

Best known for his iconic roles in “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones,” Ford also commented on Trump’s apparent disdain for renewable energy. He quipped that Trump might dislike wind turbines simply because he has “never seen a gold turbine.”

The interview took place just before Ford received a conservation award at Chicago’s Field Museum from the EO Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, named after the well-known biologist and a close friend of Ford’s until Wilson’s passing in 2021.

Over the years, Ford has not shied away from criticizing Trump. Last year, he endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the 2024 presidential election.

“The other man,” Ford commented in a video directed at Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, suggesting that Trump demands blind loyalty and seeks vengeance.

Interestingly, ahead of the election, a National Research Group poll suggested that President James Marshall, a character Ford portrayed in “Air Force One,” was one of the fictional presidents who could hypothetically challenge both Trump and Harris, along with characters played by Morgan Freeman and Bill Pullman in other popular films.
