YouTube TV Subscribers Miss “Monday Night Football”
As of Monday morning, there was still no resolution between YouTube TV and Disney regarding their contract dispute. This issue led to YouTube TV losing access to ESPN, ABC, and other Disney networks starting last Friday.
If a last-minute agreement isn’t reached, YouTube TV won’t be able to stream the Cowboys vs. Cardinals game in Arlington, Texas. This affects more than 10 million subscribers.
ESPN reported there were no updates as of Monday morning. Meanwhile, the NFL declined to comment.
YouTube TV expressed frustration in an X post on Thursday, stating, “Despite our best efforts, we were unable to reach a fair agreement. Starting today, Disney programming will no longer be available on YouTube TV, which includes channels like ABC and ESPN and recorded content from those networks.”
The Cowboys, currently struggling with a 3-4-1 record, still have a large fan base that garners attention. The NFL likely isn’t pleased about this disruption, especially since they have a separate agreement with YouTube for their Sunday Ticket package.
Looking ahead, ABC and ESPN have a significant matchup scheduled between the Eagles and the Packers for “Monday Night Football” in Week 10. Given the stakes for both teams in the NFC standings, it’s likely that complaints will increase as the week progresses.
Last Saturday, YouTube TV users missed parts of college football broadcasts, including notable games such as Texas defeating Vanderbilt and Georgia’s close win against Florida, both broadcast on ABC. ESPN also aired several exciting matchups, including SMU’s upset over Miami.
Next week, the Disney Network will showcase several important college football games. ABC’s lineup includes No. 8 BYU facing No. 9 Texas Tech, while ESPN will feature No. 5 Georgia going up against Mississippi State, among others.
Additionally, ESPN has scheduled some intriguing NBA games this Wednesday, with the Knicks playing the Timberwolves and the Lakers taking on the Spurs later that night.
