Woman recorded throwing hot coffee at McDonald's manager, causing burns

Earlier this week, a woman was filmed tossing boiling coffee at a McDonald’s manager in Michigan, which left the manager with burns. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a location in Buena Vista Township, not far from Saginaw.

Detective Russ Persen from the Buena Vista Township Police stated that the female manager called 911 reporting an assault by an upset customer.

The customer had placed an online order and was trying to get a refund for two sandwiches. A fellow diner recorded the last moments of the interaction at the register. In the footage, the manager attempted to pacify the customer by offering a cup of coffee, but the customer claimed he had been waiting for over an hour. The conversation hit a dead end, and the manager wished the customer a “nice day” before walking away.

That’s when the female customer removed the cup’s lid and threw the hot coffee at the manager, exclaiming, “Damn you, drink this hot coffee!” As she left the restaurant, the video captured the intense moment. The footage also shows the manager screaming as the coffee struck him.

According to Persen, the manager sustained minor burns, particularly on her back and left arm. The detective shared the video of the incident on Facebook, asking for public assistance in identifying the woman involved. Persen mentioned that they received around 100 tips and were able to identify the suspect quickly.

While the suspect, a 48-year-old woman, was not located immediately, police have contacted the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office to pursue felony assault charges.

The woman’s identity has not been disclosed yet since she hasn’t faced criminal charges.
