Recent Murders in Washington, D.C.

In a troubling turn of events, three murders took place in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night, which came just after President Trump had asserted victory over what he described as a crime “crisis” in the capital.

Officials reported that a teenage boy and two adults were victims of separate incidents, which the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is now investigating as homicides. Additionally, another teenage boy was found shot, but police have not confirmed if that incident is classified as a homicide.

This spike in violent crime stands out, especially given the recent overall decrease in crime due to President Trump’s enforcement efforts. “Our cities are very safe right now,” the president claimed last week. “This country is going to be safe. We’re going to take it one step at a time.”

Details on the Shootings

According to reports from the MPD, the first shooting occurred around 3 p.m. in the 1900 block of C Street SE. A 17-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to a hospital, where he unfortunately did not survive.

Later that evening, another teenage boy was discovered shot in the 700 block of Newton Place NW around 6:52 p.m. Despite the efforts of medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In less than two hours, at approximately 8:48 p.m., officers responded to another shooting in the 1400 block of Southeast 14th Street. They found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds, and her death is currently under investigation.

As of now, police have not released details regarding the victims or potential suspects involved in these incidents.

A Rising Concern

Over the past week, five murders have now been reported. By November 10, the data indicated a total of 122 homicides in Washington, D.C. for the year. In response to growing concerns about crime, President Trump previously deployed over 2,000 troops aiming to curb violence.

The president also signed an executive order to bolster crime-fighting measures. This includes adding more prosecutors to focus on violent and property crimes while also instructing the Secretary of Transportation to assess and enhance transportation services in the city.

FOX News Digital has sought comments from the White House regarding these recent incidents.
