Rodgers Out with Injury, Rudolph to Start for Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play in Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears due to a broken left wrist. Head coach Mike Tomlin announced that Mason Rudolph will take over the starting position.

The injury occurred during the Steelers’ recent victory over the Cincinnati Bengals when Rodgers was tackled and landed forcefully on his wrist. He exited the game early, and Rudolph replaced him as the Steelers maintained their lead for a 32-14 win.

Tomlin discussed the situation in an interview, stating, “He’s been fighting his tail off all week. That’s the smart play by the team as a whole. Let’s start Mason. He’s gotten most of the reps this week.” This will be Rodgers’ first game missed since he tore his Achilles tendon in Week 1 while with the New York Jets.

Both Tomlin and Rodgers have noted that the quarterback’s ability to protect himself is crucial in determining his position on the team.

Will Howard, a rookie quarterback who spent a significant time on injured reserve due to a hand injury, expressed admiration for Rodgers’ dedication. “The fact that he was out there and getting reps today says a lot about his pain tolerance,” Howard commented. “He’s a tough guy, dude.”

With a record of 24-5 against the Bears, Rodgers’ stats this season include 1,969 passing yards, 19 touchdown passes, and seven interceptions.

As the Steelers sit at 6-4 in the standings, they are just ahead of the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North. Meanwhile, the Bears are performing well with a 7-3 record in the NFC North as they head into Week 12.
