Kevin Spacey Clarifies Living Situation

Kevin Spacey is attempting to clarify some recent misunderstandings about his living arrangements. The 66-year-old star of House of Cards has made it clear that he is not homeless, despite the surge of attention following his recent remarks.

“I’m not usually one to correct the media,” Spacey mentioned in an Instagram video shared on a Sunday.

“If that were true, I’d hardly have time for anything else,” he continued, addressing claims circulating in articles suggesting he lacks a home. “I felt it necessary to respond, especially to the many people who have reached out, offering a place to stay or checking on me these past few days.”

Spacey expressed gratitude, saying, “I’m really touched by your kindness. But I think it’s misleading to assume I’m truly homeless in the conventional sense.”

Referring to a recent interview with a journalist, he clarified that he had mentioned living in hotels and Airbnbs while pursuing work, similar to how he started his career. “I’ve been working almost non-stop for the past year, and I have a lot to be thankful for,” he stated.

He further acknowledged that while some people face dire situations without shelter, he does not fit that description. “The article makes it clear I’m not among them, and I was never trying to claim otherwise,” Spacey explained, expressing disappointment over what he felt was a misleading headline from the publication.

To conclude, he thanked everyone for their support and kindness, saying, “Thank you for taking the time to listen and for all the love you’ve shown me. It truly means a lot.”

In the interview with the Telegraph, he had discussed the impact of the scandal that significantly affected his career. “I live in hotels and I live in Airbnbs,” he admitted. “Literally, I don’t have a home. That’s what I’m trying to get across,” he added, highlighting his challenging financial circumstances after losing his home in foreclosure.

Spacey noted how the costs over the years have been staggering, with very little income coming in. In 2017, he faced accusations of sexual misconduct against four men during his time as artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre.

He was charged with nine offenses, including sexual assault. However, in July 2023, he was acquitted of all charges after a trial. Spacey had also won a lawsuit for sexual abuse against actor Anthony Rapp in 2022.

In his ongoing efforts to revive his career, Spacey mentioned that he continues to travel for work. “Everything is in storage. If things keep improving, I think we’ll eventually decide where to settle again,” he explained.
