Unhinged Liberals Quickly Hold Trump Responsible for National Guard Shooting

Tragic Shooting of National Guard Members in DC

On Wednesday, two members of the National Guard were shot and killed in Washington, D.C. The incident led to an outpouring of condemnation from liberal commentators and activists on social media directed at President Donald Trump.

The shooting occurred just before 3 p.m. near the White House. Reports indicated that the guards remained in critical condition later that evening. These troops were part of an increased National Guard presence ordered by Trump back in August to address rising crime levels in the capital, occurring after several high-profile incidents, including the shooting death of a Congressional intern.

Democrats have consistently opposed Trump’s decision to deploy security forces in the capital and elsewhere, arguing that it oversteps presidential authority. Following the shooting, many renewed these criticisms, holding the president accountable.

Commentator Keith Olbermann remarked, “Trump harmed them, for sure.” Meanwhile, journalist Jane Mayer expressed that “the poor guards should never have been sent in,” suggesting their duties were limited to picking up trash.

Mayer criticized the deployment as costly and merely a “political show.” Activist John Pavlovitz stated that both Trump and Pete Hegseth were responsible for endangering the National Guard. Charlotte Clymer echoed similar sentiments, arguing that the military should not be used as “political pawns” and emphasizing that they enlisted to serve their country, not for frivolous duties.

Keith Edwards suggested that the Guard would have been safe if not for Trump’s “illegal deployment for non-emergency situations.” A political commentator known as “Call to Activism” questioned the reasoning behind putting the guards in danger for a stunt.

Many other users chimed in, with some calling the incident a tragedy engineered by a president seeking to create a chaotic environment across the nation. Author Brian Beutler responded to West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey’s earlier statement—which he later retracted—claiming that the deployment led to the guards’ deaths.

Despite attempts to downplay crime rates while the National Guard is present, reports showed that violent crimes were still occurring. However, some statistics indicated a 39% decrease in murders in the capital compared to the previous year, including a 53% drop in homicides.

The deployment has faced opposition for months, with Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker describing it as an “attack on the American people.” He expressed concerns that it could be used to influence the upcoming elections.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that one suspect is in custody, but details surrounding the individual, the motive, or potential accomplices have not been released. Following the attack, Trump took to social media to address the situation, with Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth announcing that an additional 500 troops would be deployed in response, asserting that those responsible would “pay a very high price.”
