Bengals Triumph Over Ravens with Burrow’s Comeback
Joe Burrow threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns in his return after missing nine games due to a turf toe injury that required surgery. The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Baltimore Ravens 32-14, forcing five turnovers in the process.
Burrow, looking strong against AFC North rivals, completed 24 of 46 passes, helping the Bengals break a four-game losing streak and secure just their second win in ten outings.
Touchdown receptions came from Tanner Hudson and Andrei Iosivas, while Ja’Marr Chase had an impressive game with seven catches for 110 yards. Evan McPherson also shone, kicking a career-high six field goals. On defense, Cedric Johnson recovered two fumbles, and Demetrius Knight Jr.’s crucial interception late in the game was pivotal.
Lamar Jackson of the Ravens completed 17 of 32 passes for 246 yards and one interception, but he struggled with two fumbles, ending their five-game winning streak. Derrick Henry and Keaton Mitchell both attempted to score for Baltimore.
At halftime, Cincinnati led by five points. Hudson made a remarkable 14-yard touchdown reception, extending the Bengals’ lead to 19-7 in the third quarter.
Baltimore clawed back with Mitchell’s 18-yard scoring run, narrowing the gap to five points late in the third quarter.
Then, Burrow responded with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Iosivas, pushing the score to 26-14 just before the end of the period.
On the Ravens’ following possession, they turned the ball over again. A pass from Jackson was deflected by Myles Murphy, and Knight intercepted it near the Cincinnati end zone, returning it 39 yards.
McPherson extended the lead to 15 points with a 52-yard field goal, just over nine minutes remaining in the game.
The Bengals forced their fifth turnover shortly after, when Jalen Davis tipped a pass intended for Zai Flowers, allowing DJ Turner II to recover the ball with just over four minutes left. This set up a 41-yard field goal from McPherson, closing out the scoring.
In the first quarter, McPherson successfully kicked field goals of 31, 42, 24, and 33 yards, giving the Bengals a 12-7 lead by halftime. Notably, Cincinnati managed to recover three fumbles from Baltimore in that half.
On a positive note for the Ravens, Henry scored on a 28-yard run, moving past Jim Brown for 12th place on the all-time rushing list with a total of 12,354 career yards.
Jackson also connected with Isaiah Likely on a 43-yard pass play, briefly giving Baltimore a 7-6 lead. However, a key play occurred when Jordan Battle knocked the ball out of Likely’s hands, resulting in a touchback for Cincinnati.
