Shawne Merriman Launches New MMA Company with Innovative Technology

Former NFL player Shawne Merriman is venturing into the mixed martial arts world with a new company, aiming to carve out a unique space in the industry.

Recently, Lights Out Xtreme Fighting unveiled cutting-edge AI technology aimed at enhancing advertising for its events. This addition complements the innovative glove technology expected to deliver more insights for fans and MMA officials. This initiative is part of Merriman’s broader venture, Lights Out Sports, which showcases his own promotions and various sports activities.

Merriman noted that while many organizations compete aggressively with the UFC, his approach is quite different. “We’re not really focused on competing,” he explained in a recent interview. “We’re about creating something new. It’s not about outspending others; it’s about being efficient and nurturing talent.” He emphasized that Lights Out Xtreme Fighting serves as a platform for this technology and a stepping stone for fighters aiming to reach the UFC.

He pointed out that, in his view, the UFC stands at the top of the industry, and many promoters are trying to capture that spotlight. But Merriman, well aware of the uphill battle, insists the focus should be on innovation rather than direct competition. “Our goal isn’t to outdo them, it’s to build something different,” he stated.

Looking ahead, the next event, Lights Out 29, is scheduled for December 6th at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California, featuring fighters like Jake Babian and Sam Fournier.

“This past year’s growth has been remarkable,” Merriman commented. “We’ve never seen anything like it in martial arts. Just recently, we’ve sent five fighters to the UFC in two months. That’s exciting for us!”

He aims to elevate the company by focusing on technology that sets it apart from competitors. Merriman wants to ensure Lights Out Xtreme Fighting is recognized as a leader in the field, paving the way for fighters to excel and eventually make their way to larger promotions.
