Ohio State seeks payback against Michigan in The Game

Ohio State vs. Michigan Rivalry Heats Up

This Saturday at noon ET, Ohio State and Michigan will face off at Michigan Stadium. It’s always a big deal, and this game is no exception.

Last season, Michigan entered with a less-than-stellar record of 6-5. Yet, in a thrilling turn of events, they managed to come from behind, winning 13-10. Things got heated afterward, too—there was a bit of a scuffle when a Michigan player attempted to plant a flag on Ohio State’s field. Talk about intensity!

That loss was tough for Ohio State; it nearly knocked them out of the College Football Playoff race entirely. Instead, they ended up as a lower seed but went on to win it all.

Now, Ohio State is heading to Ann Arbor, eager for revenge. They’ve lost four straight to the Wolverines after a dominant stretch where they won eight in a row from 2012 to 2019.

The rivalry’s history dates back to October 1897, when Michigan won the first recorded match. This year, the stakes are even higher.

Ohio State, ranked No. 1, stands at 11-0. However, a loss could mean they miss the Big Ten Championship Game, drop in the rankings, and face their first five-game losing streak against Michigan since the 1920s. Ouch!

On the flip side, Michigan is currently ranked No. 15. A victory against Ohio State would not only secure a spot in the College Football Playoff but could also land them in the Big Ten Championship Game, provided Michigan State wins their game and Oregon State loses to Washington.

If they lose to Ohio State, it would be the second season in a row that they miss out on the playoffs. That would sting a lot.

Ohio State quarterback Julian Sane is looking to keep up his impressive performance. In his first season, he’s completed around 79.4% of his passes, racking up 2,832 yards with 27 touchdowns and just four interceptions across 11 games.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s freshman quarterback, Bryce Underwood, is also poised for his first taste of this epic rivalry. He’s had a decent season, completing 62.2% of his passes for 2,166 yards, along with nine touchdowns and five interceptions, plus rushing for 322 yards and five touchdowns.

Overall, Michigan has a slight edge in the all-time series, leading with a record of 62-51-6. This matchup is not just another game; it’s a storied clash that fans look forward to every year.
