Grok and xAI were excluded from Trump's selection of AI technology partners.

It seems Elon Musk’s AI platform has missed out on a new government initiative aimed at boosting the field. On Monday, the White House introduced a project designed to speed up innovation to tackle some of the most challenging problems of our time.

According to the Department of Energy, this initiative is termed the “Genesis Mission,” and it’s described as a national effort to create the world’s most powerful science platform.

The President’s Executive Order for the Genesis Mission emphasizes integrating federal scientific datasets to train AI, test new theories, automate research processes, and fast-track scientific breakthroughs.

In quotes from the announcement, it was stated, “The Genesis mission will unite our nation’s research and development assets, combining America’s finest scientific minds, including those from national laboratories, innovative companies, esteemed universities, and existing research infrastructures.”

By 2025, Musk is also expected to make progress with his Grok chatbot and video generation technology. However, many tech enthusiasts found it surprising that Musk’s xAI wasn’t included among the project’s partners.

The list of organizations collaborating on the Genesis Mission features 55 companies, but notably absent are xAI and Grok. Given Musk’s previous role in the Trump administration, this exclusion comes as a shock, especially with big names like Amazon Web Services, Google, and Microsoft listed as partners, alongside notable AI firms such as OpenAI.

Interestingly, a company called xLight is included by the DOE, yet it is unrelated to Musk.

In response to the omission, AI engineer Brian Loemmel suggested it would have to be a deliberate choice, adding, “Not participating in the Genesis mission would have to be a deliberate omission, not just an oversight.” He mentioned discussing this with someone involved in the project and brought up the same concern.

Blaze News reached out to xAI for comments, but there was no immediate reply. Updates, if received, will be shared later.

There’s also some ambiguity surrounding Musk’s relationship with the Trump administration, but the administration seems to view this initiative as crucial, drawing parallels to the historical nuclear arms race.

The DOE claimed, “The world’s most powerful scientific platform has been launched,” marketing it as a breakthrough comparable to the Manhattan Project that could significantly reshape the future of American science and innovation.
