Brian Littrell Faces Legal Dispute with Neighbor
Brian Littrell, known for his role in the Backstreet Boys, is currently caught up in a contentious legal dispute with his neighbor, Carolyn Barrington Hill. Hill claims that Littrell has been attempting to “antagonize, bully and harass” her family by trespassing on her $3.8 million Florida Panhandle waterfront property and recording videos without permission, as stated in court documents.
On September 19, Littrell, aged 50, filed a lawsuit against Hill, who is 67. He alleges that she has trespassed on his beachfront property in Santa Rosa Beach multiple times between April and September. Despite having “chairs, umbrellas and small tables” set up along his property line, Hill reportedly refused to leave, according to Littrell’s suit filed in Walton County Circuit Court.
Hill, who describes herself in court documents as “semi-retired” and reliant on Medicare, is also accused of yelling and cursing at the Littrell family. The lawsuit alleges that when told to move, she insisted on staying put, even acting as a property manager and setting up beach furniture.
One incident on May 4 led to Hill being removed from the premises by a Walton County sheriff’s officer, according to the filings. Littrell and his family have reportedly felt the need to employ security guards to protect themselves from her harassment.
According to the lawsuit, Hill allegedly trespassed on several occasions—April 26, May 4, May 25, June 11, August 5, August 17, and September 6—refusing to leave or stop videotaping the family. The Littrells claim that this harassment has caused them significant emotional distress and hindered their ability to enjoy the beach.
They are now seeking unspecified damages through their lawsuit, which includes both Littrell and his wife, Regan Littrell, as plaintiffs.
Littrell’s attorney, Peter Tichtin, expressed that when Littrell first acquired his beach home, he felt an immense joy, as it was a realization of a long-held dream. However, this joy turned to frustration as Hill and other neighbors began to “squat” and disregard requests to leave the beach.
The situation escalated after the Littrells successfully settled a legal dispute regarding property lines on their beachfront property. According to Tichtin, post-victory, Hill launched a public campaign accusing the Littrells of stealing beach property from neighboring residents.
Recently, Hill filed a motion to dismiss the claims against her, citing legal deficiencies in the case. In Florida, while land below the high tide line is public property, the land above that line is typically private, though some areas have regulations allowing public access—even on private beaches.
Littrell’s company, BLB Beach Hut, LLC, purchased a 1,574 square foot home with three bedrooms and four bathrooms for $3.8 million in 2023. Earlier, he had also sued the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, alleging insufficient action to protect his property from trespassers, though the current status of that suit is unclear.
A hearing regarding Hill’s motion to dismiss the Littrell lawsuit is set for December 11. A video released earlier shows a tense encounter where Littrell and his wife confronted beachgoers occupying their property. The situation has drawn attention on social media, with some local residents accusing Littrell’s property manager of using aggressive tactics, such as threatening to use a drill when asking people to leave.
As of now, Hill’s attorney has not publicly commented, and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office has stated it cannot discuss ongoing litigation.
