Minnesota state workers claim they alerted Harris and the DNC regarding Tim Walz.

A group of officials from Minnesota has reached out to former Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), as they are concerned about what they perceive as the incompetence and scandals surrounding Governor Tim Walz. They expressed these thoughts in a letter, highlighting issues of alleged fraud and retaliation.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services Employee Account, representing over 480 current staff, shared their views on social media, suggesting that perhaps Harris has overlooked the wrongdoing associated with her running mate. They emphasized an ongoing message: the urgent need to combat fraud and improve governance in Minnesota.

As of now, neither Harris nor the DNC has responded to requests for comments on the matter.

In August 2024, Walz was selected by Harris as her running mate. Previous posts from the Minnesota officials accused him of severely damaging the state’s institutions and retaliating against whistleblowers who reported fraud.

Meanwhile, Minnesota has found itself at the center of an extensive fraud investigation, particularly regarding a scandal linked to pandemic-related funds. Federal prosecutors are currently addressing massive fraudulent activities associated with the Feeding Our Future program, which allegedly misappropriated over $300 million intended for child nutrition. This has resulted in more than 50 convictions, with several individuals tied to Minnesota’s Somali community.

The New York Times has indicated that what was initially viewed as a singular incident of fraud has evolved into a significant concern for both state and federal officials. There have been reports of multiple fraudulent schemes emerging from Minnesota’s Somali community, with various individuals accused of misbilling for social services that were never rendered.

State Representative Marion Rarick, who has been investigating fraud since joining the Fraud Prevention and State Government Oversight Commission in January, mentioned that she has been in contact with whistleblowers regarding these issues. She noted that they have been in communication, including face-to-face meetings.

At the same time, Representative Kristin Robbins praised these whistleblowers, calling them “heroes” for their efforts to address the challenges within state government following the alleged failures associated with Walz’s administration.
