The Eagles faced criticism after their loss on Friday, and it seems Kevin Patullo faced some unusual backlash, too. A video showing a fan hurling an egg at the Eagles’ offensive coordinator’s home in Moorestown, N.J., circulated widely on social media following their 24-15 defeat to the Bears.
According to police, the investigation into this incident is still active.
At 44, Patullo is caught in the line of fire as the reigning Super Bowl champions struggle offensively this season, despite having the NFL’s highest-paid offense.
This season, Jalen Hurts’ squad ranks poorly, sitting in the bottom third of the league with an average of 304.8 yards per game (24th), 196.3 passing yards (23rd), and 108.5 rushing yards (22nd), while scoring 22.5 points per game, placing them 19th.
A Twitter user highlighted the situation, stating that a group of young Eagles fans recorded themselves engaging in destructive behavior at Patullo’s home. Their decision to document such a foolish act was, well, quite misguided. Still, it’s easy to forget he’s just a person with a family.
This drama adds to the recent negative headlines surrounding a team currently leading the NFC East with an 8-4 record, preparing for the playoffs. Star receiver AJ Brown has publicly expressed his frustration with his role, and questions loom about the dynamics between Hurts and the rest of the Eagles’ locker room.
Despite the chaos, head coach Nick Sirianni reaffirmed his support for Patullo on Monday, insisting that the first-year coordinator would continue to manage play-calling.
“This isn’t solely about one individual. Football is the ultimate team sport,” Sirianni shared with reporters. “We’re working on everything and have immense faith in all the players and trust in all the coaches. It’s vital that we execute better and refine our plans. We recognize the issues and are committed to addressing them. If everything is amiss, that falls on me. It’s my duty to resolve these problems, which is what we’re dedicated to right now.”
Patullo, who previously worked as the Jets’ quarterbacks coach from 2015 to 2016, joined the Eagles in 2021 as their passing game coordinator, taking over the offensive coordinator role from Kellen Moore, who is now with the Saints.
