Elden Campbell, a former center for the Los Angeles Lakers, has passed away at the age of 57. Known for his calm presence and smooth athleticism, Campbell has left a profound impact on those who knew him.

During his 15-year NBA career, Campbell played for over eight seasons with the Lakers. He later earned a championship ring with the Detroit Pistons in 2004. Following the news of his death, tributes have poured in from former teammates, friends, and fans on social media. Many remember him not just as a skilled athlete, but as a genuinely respected friend and mentor. This sudden loss has resonated deeply within the basketball community, and while the details surrounding his passing remain unclear, it’s clear that he touched many lives.

Standing at 6 feet 11 inches, Campbell was undoubtedly a natural on the basketball court. The Lakers chose him in the first round of the 1990 NBA Draft from Clemson. Over the course of his career, he also played for the Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, and New Jersey Nets, sharing the floor with legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant.

He carved out a meaningful legacy in the NBA, ranking 37th on the all-time blocks list. Campbell appeared in 1,044 games while averaging 10.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He was recently inducted into the Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

On Tuesday, many former teammates reflected on their fond memories of Campbell. Cedric Ceballos shared his heartache on Instagram, writing, “This hurts my bones. We grew up together since we were kids. Rest easy.”

Brian Scott, another former Lakers player, expressed his sorrow, reminiscing about Campbell’s laid-back nature. He noted, “We nicknamed him ‘Eazy-E’ because he was just so cool and took his time.”

As of now, there has been no official statement regarding the cause of his death.
