Oregon Man Faces Charges After Threatening ICE Officers

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken action against an Oregon resident known for protesting against ICE. Recently, a video surfaced featuring John Paul Kapp, 45, also recognized as Walid al-Amriki, making alarming threats. In the footage, he can be heard warning an ICE officer that his wife would receive a stab in the neck through the mail.

Kapp’s actions apparently reflect a dramatic rise in threats aimed at federal law enforcement, with one senior DHS official indicating an 8,000% increase. He now faces charges for intimidating a federal agent, which includes threats to kill an ICE officer and sexually assault his spouse.

DHS shared a video on social media where Kapp is seen screaming at ICE agents, claiming to be an al-Qaeda terrorist. He vehemently proclaims that he’s there to advocate for violent actions against the government, all while referencing strawman arguments about targeting innocent families.

In the video, he provocatively tells a federal agent, “Come get bin Laden,” following this with grotesque threats involving violence against his wife. His tirade includes various graphic sexual threats as well.

ICE Officials Urge Politicians to Ensure Safety

Kapp further taunted the agents, suggesting that should they confront him, “the streets would be burned down.” He even made derogatory comments about political figures, implying that he supports illegal activities.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented to the media, stating that Kapp is currently facing serious federal charges. She emphasized the dangers law enforcement officers face, citing the alarming rise in death threats against them. “From murder bounties to stalking and leaks of personal information, our officers are confronting unprecedented levels of violence,” she added.

This isn’t Kapp’s first interaction with extremist views. He has affiliations with various radical groups and has, in the past, even been recognized by North Korea.

Past Incidents and Current Developments

Kapp discussed his motivations for protesting against ICE in earlier interviews, indicating he’d been involved with demonstrations since June. In a TikTok post from November, which appeared to stem from Kapp, he described having “love in my heart” despite his confrontational demeanor.

According to local news sources, Kapp has had issues surrounding homelessness and family estrangement. He was recently remanded to the Northwest Detention Center, though no further comments were available from his end.
