Michelle Pfeiffer Stars in Second Christmas Movie

After years of working in entertainment, Michelle Pfeiffer is taking on her second holiday film. She opened up during a chat about her latest project, “Oh. What. Fun.,” and mentioned how many people see her role in “Batman Returns” as her first Christmas film. “I… well, I didn’t think about it that way,” she said. “But, I was told that Catwoman in ‘Batman Returns’ counts as a holiday movie. Maybe this is my second one, I guess.” It’s a bit surprising to think about, given how long her career has been.

Pfeiffer co-stars with Felicity Jones in this new film, which premiered on December 3. In it, she plays Claire Kloster, a character described as the heart of a loving, yet chaotic family during the holiday season.

Pfeiffer’s Early Years

Her journey in Hollywood started back in the late 1970s, right after she won the Miss Orange County pageant. That led to getting an agent and some early TV roles. Interestingly, she also participated in the Miss California competition, where she was recognized as Miss Photogenic.

In a nostalgic moment, Pfeiffer recently shared a clip from the pageant on social media with a light-hearted caption, recalling her beginnings with a laugh.

Before her ascent to stardom, Pfeiffer worked as a cashier at a grocery store. She recalls feeling fortunate to have the job, even if she wasn’t the best at it. “I remember one older lady asking me how I managed to have such a round face with such a small body,” she joked, reminiscing about her interactions with customers.

Her cinematic debut was in “Hollywood Nights,” but her big break really came with roles in “Grease 2” and “Scarface.” Over the years, she became one of the most recognized faces in Hollywood, winning several awards, including an Academy Award for her role in “Dangerous Liaisons.”

Career and Family Life

Pfeiffer took a step back from acting in the 2000s to focus on family after marrying television producer David E. Kelley. They welcomed their adopted daughter Claudia Rose in 1993, followed by their son, John Henry, the next year. However, in 2017, she began to find her footing in acting again, starring in various projects like “Murder on the Orient Express.” She even earned an Emmy nomination for her portrayal in the HBO film “Wizard of Lies.”

Though she’s enjoying her return, Pfeiffer has plans to take a break in 2026 to embrace her new role as a grandmother. “I feel incredibly lucky for the projects I’ve been part of, but I really want to focus on family now,” she explained, noting her daughter’s pregnancy as part of why she’s choosing this timing.

Looking ahead, she’s set to appear in “The Madison,” a spinoff of “Yellowstone,” which is projected to release next year. Pfeiffer is excited about what’s coming but is also reflective about how she spends her time at this stage in her life.
