John Cena's last WWE match ends in defeat

John Cena Concludes WWE Career in Washington D.C. Main Event

John Cena faced his ultimate challenge in what marked the end of his in-ring career, competing in the main event on Saturday night in Washington, D.C. It was a packed house at Capital One Arena, where Cena squared off against Gunther, a two-time world heavyweight champion who earned his title shot by winning the Last Time Is Now tournament. Gunther didn’t seem the least bit intimidated by Cena’s presence.

From the get-go, Gunther went on the offensive. Even though Cena managed to execute multiple attitude adjustments, including one on the announcer’s table, Gunther seemed relentless and almost out of control.

Eventually, Gunther trapped Cena in a sleeper hold, forcing the legendary 17-time WWE Champion to tap out. The atmosphere was heavy with shock as fans reacted with boos directed at Gunther.

After the match, WWE Superstar and Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque entered the ring to commend Cena on his illustrious career. Cena took a moment to bow, honoring the fans who had supported him over the past 25 years.

A Look Back at Cena’s Journey

This retirement tour began earlier this year at the Royal Rumble, where Cena finished as the runner-up. He went on to win the Elimination Chamber match and later faced Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. In an unexpected twist, Cena turned heel in a manner reminiscent of Hulk Hogan, though this persona only lasted a few months before he returned to his beloved babyface character, much to the delight of his fans.

Throughout the year, Cena faced off against notable opponents such as Punk, Styles, Logan Paul, Brock Lesnar, and Dominik Mysterio, including another title match against Rhodes at SummerSlam.
