Fire ruins family's home in the Philippines, leaving only the Bible unharmed.

A family in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, faced a heartbreaking experience when a major house fire destroyed most of their possessions. On November 27, Ruth Mary Lepuyan and her family went to check the remnants of their home, which had been severely damaged, reducing many of their belongings to ash and debris.

Amid the charred remains, they began to sift through the wreckage to see if anything could be salvaged. During this search, Lepuyan came across a thick object that was partially hidden under the rubble.

Expecting it to be as ruined as everything else, she pulled it out and was astonished to find it was the family Bible, largely untouched by the flames.

A video shows her carefully lifting the Bible from the ashes and flipping through its pages. Strikingly, while many items were destroyed, the Bible remained intact with no visible signs of burning.

Interestingly, although they also found another book nearby, it didn’t fare as well and was heavily damaged.

“We’ll be celebrating Christmas with nothing left. Everything has been burnt down, and all we have is the Bible. This is a miracle,” she remarked.

The Philippines is home to over 99 million Christians, according to the latest census by the Philippine Statistics Authority.

“All we have is the Bible. It’s a miracle.”

Reports of Bibles surviving fires are not uncommon. For instance, in the fall of 2024, a 62-year-old grandmother named Cindy Cole lost her home during Hurricane Helen in Nashville, Georgia. She recalled waking in the night to what she perceived as a divine prompt urging her to move to another room.

Fortunately, she followed this intuition; shortly after, a large tree from her neighbor’s yard crashed into her bedroom, landing right where she had been sleeping. “I think the Lord told me to move,” she later shared.

“You cannot touch the word of the Lord.”

Upon returning to assess the damage, she found her room utterly destroyed, yet her Bible remained unharmed. “You cannot touch the word of the Lord. You cannot touch it,” she said emphatically.

In another case from 2019, a man recounted how his grandfather’s Bible survived a Christmas tree fire that consumed his home along the Gulf Coast. His sister noted that the Bible was left completely unscathed, in such a good condition that it could “have been taken to church.”
