The notorious “Florida Man” certainly made headlines in 2025, and not in a good way.
Florida has turned into a collection of wild and shocking stories, featuring everything from a train heist involving a birthday celebration fueled by meth to bewildering police body cam videos capturing the arrest of a costumed individual at a Chuck E. Cheese, with families watching in sheer disbelief.
“Would you all please handcuff Mickey Mouse?”
Here are the five most outrageous incidents of the year linked to the infamous “Florida Man.”
1. Chaos in Key West: Man Uses Meth Pipe to Hijack Tourist Train on His Birthday
In July, Blaze News covered an incident where a 57-year-old man reportedly commandeered a tourist train in Key West to celebrate his birthday, driven by a methamphetamine binge.
According to a police report, Jonathan Patrick Winslow claimed he had stolen a Conch Tour Train and even picked up “two random passengers” while driving.
When police approached him, Winslow was found with a meth pipe, insisting to officers that it was merely a “weed pipe.” He explained that he used to work for the Conch Tour Train Depot and said he just “rented” the trains because “today is his birthday.”
Despite the birthday celebration, Winslow was arrested and faced charges for robbery, auto theft, and drug possession.
2. Children Watch in Shock While Police Arrest Costumed Man at Chuck E. Cheese
A supposedly fun outing for kids abruptly turned strange when police body camera footage revealed the arrest of the Chuck E. Cheese mascot in front of bewildered children and parents.
Blaze News reported in September that 41-year-old Jermell Jones was arrested for using someone else’s credit card.
One officer, caught on tape entering a pizza joint in Tallahassee, remarked to a fellow officer, “I’m going to detain a rat.”
Amid the chaos, an officer declared, “Chuck E’s a little busy, ma’am,” while trying to apprehend the man in the rat costume.
The situation escalated as the costumed man was ordered to comply, and a parent was heard protesting, “Instead of traumatizing all of our children to see someone like Chuck E. Cheese arrested, we want him out the door.”
Jones ended up charged with credit card theft and related fraud offenses totaling over $100.
3. A Florida Man Offers Police Officer a Drink During Car Chase and Gets Shot with a Tasing Gun
Only in Florida would a suspect nonchalantly offer a police officer a drink during a pursuit.
As reported by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office, police were called to a local market in April for reports of stolen alcoholic beverages.
39-year-old Richard Christopher Smith was driving a black minivan while being chased by police, holding a can of Ketel One Vodka Spritz out the window as he passed an officer trying to pull him over. Body camera footage captured Smith saying, “I just wanted to get you a drink, that’s all.”
Police officials quipped that they didn’t quite understand what he expected would happen next.
After attempting to ram into police vehicles, Smith’s high-speed chase ended at a corporate parking lot where he was met with officers aiming their weapons. Ignoring commands, he walked toward a deputy, only to be taken down with a tasing gun.
Smith questioned why he was being arrested, to which an officer replied, “Because there’s a lot of stupid stuff going on right now.” Smith responded, “But you guys had fun, didn’t you?”
He faced multiple charges, including assault on law enforcement and DUI.
4. A Florida Motorcyclist’s Collision with an Alligator
In a weird twist, a Florida motorcyclist collided with a hefty alligator, sending it airborne over the handlebars.
In June, two motorcycles struck a 6-foot alligator on Interstate 4 in Orange City. One rider, Cameron Gilmore, described the situation, noting he saw the alligator just ten feet ahead. “It was a little bit of an incident,” he said. He didn’t even have a moment to react.
Both motorcyclists were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the peculiar encounter.
5. Sex Offender Receives Rejection at Interview and Proceeds to Throw Bottles of Urine
A Florida man went over the edge after being denied during a job interview, launching bottles of urine at a store.
According to Blaze News in April, 51-year-old John Connaughton faced charges after lashing out at a door store in St. Petersburg. After the rejection, he threw several bottles of urine in front of the store, causing damages exceeding $1,000.
Connaughton attempted to flee but was chased down. As police arrived, he lifted his skateboard, seemingly to threaten one of the men pursuing him.
He was ultimately charged with assault, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault.
