On Saturday, President Trump expressed his excitement after a video mocking Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro aired. This came just hours after Maduro claimed the U.S. would “execute” Venezuela, leading to mixed reactions.
“Vengaporumi!” he is expected to declare in a speech for 2024.
The English subtitles of the clip reveal Maduro’s famous taunts, as dramatic music plays in the background. He challenges the audience, urging them to join him: “I’ll be waiting for you here in Maraflores! Don’t take too long, coward!”
Miraflores serves as the presidential palace in Caracas.
The video then transitions to an emotionally charged clip where actor Kevin James, from the 2007 Dayton 500, compares “Maduro” and “Trump” to decide who ultimately wins. “I have three things to say: God bless our troops. God bless America. And gentlemen, start your engines!” Trump exclaims, paired with an image of a bald eagle.
Moreover, the clip features footage of the U.S. operation that led to the capture of Maduro and his wife, First Lady Celia Flores, showcasing their transfer to Iwo Jima for prosecution.
The video had initially circulated on Facebook before Trump’s posting, just after he deemed the operation a success while labeling Maduro a “dictator” and a “tough cookie.”
This military operation involves wrapping the Venezuelan conflict in American flags, even as some Democrats, including prominent figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and new mayor Zoran Mamdani, push to dismantle it.
A fact check regarding a Yahoo News report from August indicated that Maduro’s fiery address wasn’t actually aimed at mocking the U.S., but was directed at his political rival Edmundo González Urrutia, who critiqued the integrity of the electoral process that allowed Maduro’s continued rule.
In a striking contrast, the United States, under the Biden administration, recognized González as the legitimate winner.
On the same day as these events, Trump also released a significant poster warning Colombia and Cuba.
