Rep Greene voices concerns over Trump's Venezuela actions that led to Maduro's capture

Marjorie Taylor Greene Critiques Trump’s Focus on Venezuela

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) expressed her concerns regarding President Donald Trump’s comments about Venezuela, which resulted in the detention of Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Greene emphasized that the president should prioritize domestic issues instead.

During an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Greene responded to Trump’s claim that the U.S. is prioritizing its interests in South America. She suggested that Mexico should be the focus, especially since she believes it’s responsible for the fentanyl crisis affecting Americans.

“What I’m objecting to is the idea that, under the Trump administration—which ran with the ‘Make America Great Again’ motto—we’d focus on Americans first. After the challenges of the Biden years, I want domestic policies that actually help people here,” she stated.

Greene continued, saying, “I’d like to see initiatives focused on jobs, affordable housing, and better healthcare services. These are the issues that really resonate with most Americans.”

When asked about Venezuela, Greene remarked, “We don’t see Venezuela as a neighbor.” She criticized the U.S. strategies that led to Maduro’s detention, asserting they don’t serve the American populace effectively, although she acknowledged that it’s positive for Venezuelans that Maduro was removed.

Furthermore, Greene has distanced herself from Trump in recent months, particularly regarding the administration’s handling of certain sensitive issues. In November, she announced her intention to resign from Congress, marking a significant shift in her political stance.

As she prepares to leave her congressional role, Greene’s last day is set for January 5th. Trump’s previous support for her has waned, with him labeling her a “traitor” in recent exchanges.
