Raiders Start Fresh with Coaching Search

Tom Brady and the Raiders are at the beginning of a new coaching journey.

After a challenging season led to the dismissal of head coach Pete Carroll on Monday, team owner Mark Davis announced that Brady, a minority owner of the Las Vegas team, will collaborate closely with general manager John Spytek to find a new head coach.

“General Manager John Spytek will now oversee all football operations, including the search for the club’s next head coach, partnering with Tom Brady,” Davis shared in a statement.

“Together, they will steer football decisions, focusing on leadership, culture, and alignment with the organization’s long-term vision and aims.”

Spytek, who began serving as the Raiders’ general manager last year, shares a rich history with Brady.

During Brady’s three seasons in Tampa Bay, Spytek worked with the team, holding the role of director of player personnel from 2016 to 2020 and later becoming vice president of player personnel from 2021 to 2022.

By 2023, he had climbed to the position of assistant general manager.

Brady, who wrapped up his Buccaneers career after the 2022 season, was officially named a minority owner of the Raiders in October 2024.

The team is now in search of its fourth head coach since 2022.

Initially, Josh McDaniels was hired for the role in January 2022 but was let go midway through the 2023 season.

Antonio Pearce was appointed interim head coach and is set to become the full-time head coach in 2024.

Las Vegas parted ways with Pearce last January, leading to Carroll taking over, but he ended the season with a disappointing 3-14 record.

At the moment, the Raiders are among six NFL teams looking for a new head coach, joining the Titans, Giants, Falcons, Browns, and Cardinals.

What sets Las Vegas apart is that they currently hold the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
