Governor Walz Claims Federal Government is at War with Minnesota

Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota has made grave accusations against the federal government, stating that it’s waging a war on the state. This comes in the wake of a deadly incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during an operation.

Tensions heightened on Wednesday when an ICE agent shot and killed a woman in her vehicle, who was allegedly interfering with their operation. Reports indicated that her erratic driving prompted the response, resulting in her death.

“Minnesota will not allow our community to be used as a prop in a national political battle. We will not take the bait,” Walz asserted.

The governor criticized the government’s intensified immigration enforcement, attributing the tragic incident to the actions of the Trump administration.

In a media briefing, Walz noted, “As I said yesterday, we have never been at war with the federal government.” He expressed his intention to ensure the Minnesota National Guard is prepared for any federal confrontations.

“I have warned the National Guard to stay ready. We have personnel in training, and they could be deployed if needed. But to clarify, this warning is aimed at the public,” he stated.

He emphasized, “These National Guard members are part of our communities—teachers, business owners, workers. They are Minnesotans. We refuse to let our communities be used in a political struggle; we won’t take the bait.”

Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, shifted blame back onto Democrats, claiming their rhetoric has incited violence against law enforcement. “This attack stems directly from the continuous assaults on police officers by sanctuary politicians,” she argued, noting significant increases in assaults and threats against officers.

In response to the shooting, other Democratic leaders are urging the federal government to withdraw its law enforcement presence in Minnesota. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey expressed strong opposition to ICE’s actions, stating, “Get these agents out of Minneapolis!”

“Your presence here isn’t creating security; it’s causing harm,” he claimed, highlighting the emotional toll on families and long-time residents. “People are suffering, and now one of them has lost their life.”
