Arrest Warrant Issued for Timothy Busfield
An arrest warrant has been issued for Timothy Busfield, the actor and director recognized for his roles in Field of Dreams, The West Wing, and 30something. This comes amid allegations concerning the sexual abuse of a minor in New Mexico.
Documents reveal that the investigation commenced in November 2024, initiated when a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital alerted law enforcement. Police subsequently visited the hospital, where they spoke to the parents of two children who had acted in the Fox series The Cleaning Lady earlier that year.
Busfield directed this series from 2022 to 2025. During this time, he reportedly “grew closer” to the boys while on set, according to the warrant.
At 68 years old, Busfield is facing allegations that he requested the children refer to him as “Uncle Tim” and engaged in physical interactions with them, such as tickling their stomachs and feet. Hospital staff informed the officers that it seemed the children had been groomed, based on their observations.
Currently, Busfield is charged with two counts of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse. As of Friday afternoon, it was unclear whether he had been formally taken into custody.
In addition to his notable directorial efforts, Busfield has amassed over 700 credits across acting, producing, and directing. He garnered an Emmy Award in 1991 for his portrayal of Elliot Weston in 30something, which aired from 1987 to 1991 and featured actors like Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig.
His film career has included appearances in Stripes, Sneakers, and Quiz Show.
Busfield is married to Melissa Gilbert, known for her role in Little House on the Prairie. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, does not have children. Recently, Gilbert shared a rare post on social media about their time together, highlighting their preferences for nature drives, vegan meals, and movie nights.
“We are quite the duo,” she remarked in her Instagram post about their date experiences.
