Trump Criticizes CNN Reporter Over Iran Threat Inquiry
On Sunday, President Trump confronted a CNN reporter after being asked if he thought Iran was taking his “threat” seriously. This exchange happened aboard Air Force One during its journey from Palm Beach, Florida, to Washington, D.C.
“Do you think Iran is taking your threat seriously?” the reporter inquired.
“I think so, don’t you think so, CNN?” Trump responded, highlighting past actions taken during his presidency, including the elimination of Gen. Qasem Soleimani and terror leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as well as bomb attacks on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan as part of Operation Midnight Hammer in 2025.
“After years of experience with me, don’t you think they would recognize that by now? We took care of Soleimani and al-Baghdadi. The Iranian nuclear threat has been addressed… and Venezuela just formed,” he noted.
“Given what we’ve done thus far, don’t you think they would? What a stupid question,” he added, clearly not pleased.
This interaction came as Trump stated the U.S. was “ready to help” as Iran faces ongoing protests against Ali Khamenei’s regime. Reports indicate that at least 192 protesters had died as of Sunday, according to AFP.
During the flight, Trump also criticized a CNN reporter for trying to avoid revealing which outlet she represented. When another reporter asked if Iran had crossed “the red line of not responding yet,” Trump replied, “It looks like it’s already starting to do that.”
He commented, “It appears that some people were killed who shouldn’t have been. The military is reviewing the situation, and we’re exploring some very strong options.”
A CNN reporter later inquired about the options he had been briefed on, to which Trump replied with skepticism. “Why do you say that? Do you want to tell me what I will do, where I will attack, when and from what angle? With whom?” he questioned.
The reporter mentioned she was part of the White House press corps to steer clear of CNN. Ultimately, she expressed frustration with the situation when faced with Trump’s remarks.
Trump teased, “What if I said, ‘I belong to CNN,’” again labeling the network as “fake news.”
