Incident Involving ICE Officer and Renee Goode

Timmy Macklin, the former stepfather of Renee Goode, suggested on Tuesday that she might have made imprudent choices prior to the shooting incident. Goode was shot by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer Jonathan Ross on January 7, when his vehicle accelerated rapidly during a confrontation. Macklin explained in an interview that while she “doesn’t blame anyone” for what happened, she felt that her failure to adhere to religious principles contributed to the situation.

“Renee was an incredible person, full of life and joy. She was a wonderful mother,” Macklin remarked. “But I believe we’ve all been making poor choices. The world seems quite confused right now.” He went on to invoke a biblical perspective, stating, “If my people will humble themselves and seek the face of God and turn from their wicked ways in prayer, then God will hear from heaven and will forgive us our sins and heal our land. That’s what we really need—turning to God and letting Him guide us.”

Macklin continued, emphasizing, “There are certainly wrong choices being made. The Word says, ‘For the wrath of God is upon the children of disobedience.’ And I don’t blame ICE. I don’t blame Rebecca or anyone else. I think the circumstances could have been different if we had followed the guidance of the Spirit of God.”

It was reported that Ross was attempting to photograph Goode’s license plate while her vehicle was obstructing traffic. Footage from Minnesota-based Alpha News captures a moment where Rebecca Good, Renee’s wife, can be heard asking Ross, “Do you want to come after us? Do you want to come after us?” She then seemingly urged Renee, “drive, baby, drive,” just before the car accelerated toward Ross.

While Democrats characterized the incident as a homicide, the Trump administration defended the actions of the officer as self-defense.
