European troops arrive in Greenland within two days as Trump considers US control.

Military personnel from multiple European nations have arrived in Greenland as of Thursday for a brief two-day mission aimed at bolstering regional defenses.

Countries like France, Germany, Sweden, and Norway are participating in this exercise, which aims to highlight the ability to deploy military resources swiftly.

This operation comes in the wake of the Trump administration’s efforts to acquire territory from Denmark. Reports indicate that Germany contributed 13 reconnaissance specialists, while France dispatched 15 mountain training experts. Additionally, Sweden, Norway, and the United Kingdom sent a smaller number of officers—three, two, and one, respectively.

The Danish Ministry of Defense released a statement saying, “Geopolitical tensions are reaching into the Arctic. Therefore, in collaboration with our NATO allies, we have decided to enhance the Danish military’s training activities in Greenland.”

They continued, “Starting today, we will closely work with NATO allies to amplify our military footprint in and around Greenland. The goal is to develop capabilities specific to Arctic conditions, strengthen the Alliance’s presence, and enhance both European and transatlantic security.”

The Danish Armed Forces plan to deploy various military resources, including aircraft and ships, for exercises in the region, indicating a commitment to increased military readiness in the Arctic and North Atlantic.

The report noted upcoming military activities in 2026 that might include safeguarding critical infrastructure, assisting local authorities in Greenland, supporting police operations, and conducting naval maneuvers.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson mentioned on social media that several Swedish military officers would also be arriving in Greenland as part of this collaborative effort, known as “Operation Arctic Endurance.” Sweden is sending these troops at Denmark’s request.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that the U.S. goal of occupying Greenland persists, expressing concern and affirming that efforts will continue to avert that possibility.

On Wednesday, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lökke Rasmussen and Greenlandic Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeld held discussions at the White House with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance.

This is an evolving situation, and updates will follow.
