Press Secretary and Reporter Clash Over ICE Issues

During a press conference on Thursday, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt had a heated exchange with a reporter, referring to him as a “left-wing activist” amidst discussions surrounding Renee Goode.

Niall Stanage, a columnist for The Hill, opened his question by highlighting the Trump administration’s strong defense of the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE). He mentioned that “32 people have died in ICE custody” along with “170 Americans in ICE custody.” Furthermore, he noted that Goode was recently shot and killed, an incident investigators described as self-defense since she reportedly used her vehicle as a weapon.

“How does that say they’re doing everything right?” Stanage inquired, pointing to remarks made by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem about defending ICE.

Levitt responded by asking, “Why was Renee Goode unfortunately and tragically killed?”

“Are you asking me what I think?” Stanage replied. When Levitt affirmed, he stated, “Because ICE agents acted recklessly and unjustly killed her.”

Levitt shot back, claiming, “So you’re a biased reporter with left-wing views. You’re a left-wing hack.” She asserted that the premise of his question made it clear he wasn’t acting like a journalist.

She continued, criticizing both the reporter and the media at large. Levitt emphasized, “You and members of the media shouldn’t pretend to be journalists while holding such bias.” She accused him of failing to report on the facts and named individuals like Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nangaray, who had been victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens.

She concluded the confrontation by expressing disappointment in media figures for presenting slanted portrayals of the situation before moving on to another journalist.
