Rachel Ward Responds to Aging Criticism

Rachel Ward is addressing fans who have taken issue with her natural aging process.

During the holidays, the star of ‘The Thorn Birds’ prompted discussions about her looks after posting images from her farm in Australia on social media. Some users criticized her appearance in an Instagram video, claiming she looks older than her 68 years.

The video has garnered nearly a million views, receiving mixed feedback; while many praised her for embodying “true beauty,” others left harsh comments about how she looks.

In light of the reaction, Ward later posted another video discussing her age and her decision not to pursue acting in her 60s.

She mentioned, “To everyone who reacted to the negative comments about my appearance, I tried to improve a bit today—ran my hands through my hair, you know. But seriously, don’t fear aging. Your 60s can be such a fulfilling time. I really have no regrets about leaving my youth behind.”

She went on to say, “I might not be young anymore, but honestly, I’m quite happy. The later years in life are something to be embraced and celebrated. Just wait until you get there. You’ll discover new joys that you didn’t even expect.”

Ward concluded her video by expressing gratitude towards fans who offered supportive messages despite the negativity from a few commenters.

“Don’t worry about me. I know we all stress about aging and sometimes take extreme measures to hold onto youth, but it’s important to let that go,” she added.

The actress noted she spends little time on her appearance these days, as she resides on a farm with her husband, Brian Brown, who is also her co-star from ‘The Thorn Birds’. They have three adult children: Matilda, Rosie, and Joe.
