Violence Erupts During Minneapolis Protests
A man was caught on video being pursued into a parking lot in Minneapolis, where he was attacked with a flagpole by a group of people who appeared to be anti-ICE protesters. This incident occurred during intense protests Saturday afternoon.
The crowd reportedly followed the man as he approached his car, using pepper spray and striking him on an existing wound on his head. “I’m trying to end it, and you guys keep harassing me,” he can be heard saying, visibly bloodied in his jacket.
A member of the protest could be heard shouting into a megaphone, emphasizing that the man needed medical assistance, suggesting his need for psychological help. “Bleeding is natural for Nazis, but he needs psychological help,” they shouted as the mob continued to pursue him.
Amidst the chaos, the crowd yelled accusations like, “Damn you Nazis,” while following him further into the garage. A woman can be heard offering assistance, but the man, seemingly calm, replied, “No, I’m fine. But thank you, I appreciate it.”
As he managed to get into his car and drive away, the mob slammed the door and struck the vehicle with a flagpole. At this point, it remains unclear what initially sparked the violent altercation.
Earlier that day, Jake Lang, a Republican Senate candidate from Florida, was seen being dragged from another demonstration. Footage captured him bleeding from the head as he navigated through the crowd. Lang, known for participating in the January 6 Capitol riot, was at Minneapolis City Hall for a controversial event called the “Little Somalia Crusade March,” during which he aimed to burn a Koran.
In video footage, he could be seen attempting to enter a car, which he believed was a sanctuary as protesters kicked at it and opened the door. A voice from the passenger seat urged the protesters to stop, stating, “We don’t know him. Please stop banging our car.” Later, Lang claimed on social media that he had been stabbed, but the protective gear he wore prevented serious injury.
In an emotional post, Lang described the incident as a lynching, expressing that he had sustained serious injuries during the fray. He claimed to be hospitalized with staples in his skull as a result of the attack, suggesting a growing atmosphere of violence against “white Christians” in the streets.
The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed they were aware of the social media claims of assault but stated that no formal report had been made. They urged anyone who experienced an assault to report it promptly, providing details like the date, location, and descriptions of any suspects involved.
Meanwhile, protests outside the Whipple Federal Building intensified, with officers attempting to separate demonstrators from the entrance. As darkness set in, tensions remained high following the shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by ICE agents earlier this month, which had already escalated unrest in the community.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced plans to mobilize the National Guard to assist local law enforcement. However, they haven’t yet been deployed to the area. In a statement, the White House highlighted concerns regarding the release of criminals into society since President Trump took office, reinforcing ICE’s mission to remove dangerous individuals from communities.
