Jordan Shipley Moves Forward in Recovery
Jordan Shipley, the former Texas Longhorns standout, has been discharged from the hospital after enduring weeks of treatment for severe burns he suffered in a ranch accident.
His wife, Sunny, shared on Instagram that although he has left the hospital, he is still experiencing significant pain. “I wanted to let you know that we have been released from the hospital because I know so many people are praying. I still can’t believe it,” she wrote, expressing their gratitude for the support they’ve received.
Sunny, who is the mother of their two children, talked about the road ahead, saying, “We have a tough and long journey ahead of us, but I can assure you that he and I will continue our journey with joy and admiration.”
She also emphasized their appreciation for the overwhelming love from friends, family, and even strangers during this challenging time, noting, “Words will never be enough to express our gratitude.”
As they left the hospital, many of the healthcare professionals referred to Shipley’s recovery as nothing short of miraculous, remarking on how rare it is for someone in his condition to be discharged so quickly. Despite this progress, the couple plans to stay near the hospital for ongoing monitoring as he adjusts to being home.
Shipley was seriously injured in an incident involving a machine he was operating at his ranch near Burnet. According to a statement from the University of Texas, he managed to reach out for help from a ranch employee, who transported him to a local hospital before he was airlifted to Austin.
Known as one of the finest receivers in Longhorns history, Shipley amassed an impressive 3,191 receiving yards and was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010’s third round. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
